Description
Lake Paviken and its surroundings form a nature reserve which has some of the best birding on the island of Gotland. The nutritious lake is a stop-over site for migratory birds during spring and autumn. The birds are also attracted by the reeds and grazed, damp meadows. A total of 240 bird species has been observed in the area. The lake has a bird observation tower on the east side. Ducks, Buhai de baltă, Cocor and Erete de stuf thrive here together with many other species. In the bushes by the lakeshore you can hear singing warblers and rails in the evenings and nights. Among the other birds you can see are Lebădă de iarnă, Privighetoare de zăvoi, Cresteț pestriț, Cârstel de baltă, Rață cârâitoare, Ciocănitoare pestriță mică and Boicuș. Rare guests that have been seen here are Barză neagră, Rață cu ciuf, Vânturel de seară, Gâscă cu gât roșu, Pupăză and Rândunică roșcată.
