Norsholmen is a peninsula on the small island Fårö, north of Gotland. Beautiful open landscape with grazed meadows surrounded by shallow beaches.
Norsholmen is a peninsula on the small island of Fårö between Tällevika and Ajkesvik north of Gotland. Norsholmen is known for its good birding, mainly during spring and autumn migration. During the spring, large numbers of seabirds and waders pass through. At the end of May, for example, large flocks of Gâscă călugăriță can be seen stopping on their way to their Arctic breeding grounds. The birdlife consists of waders such as Ciocîntors, Pietruș, Bătăuș and Fugaci de țărm and terns such as Chiră polară and Chiră mică. At the end of July/August, flocks of Chiră de mare dwell around the islet. Codalb is often seen.
Norsholmen is easiest to reach via a footpath that starts from Bohakasandet on the southwestern shore of Ajkesviken. Note: from 15 March to 15 July, it is forbidden to move outside the roads marked on the information signs that stand in several places in the bird protection area. It is forbidden all year round to drive a motor vehicle within the area.
