Limsjön is located just east of Leksand and has bird observation towers and a bird hide. The lake has mudflats that attract many waders.
The various biotopes of lake Limsjön with abundant reeds in the southwest, extensive meadows in the north and with sedge hedges and shore meadows all around attract many different bird species. Around the lake, an approx. 7 km long hiking trail leads to the various bird observation towers and the bird hide. Early spring migrants are attracted by the open fields and open water on the lake such as Lebădă de iarnă, Porumbel de scorbură, Ciocârlie and Nagâț. Groups of Gâscă călugăriță sometimes rest during March-April. During April-May, pretty much all of Sweden's waders can be seen during migration. Later in the spring there is an intense chorus of singers and from the nesting islands the colony of Pescăruș râzător can be heard and in their shelter ducks and Corcodel de iarnă nest.
At the south-east tower (Norsbrotornet) there is a spacious car park. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking a 7 km walking trail leads around the lake.
