Kvädöfjärden is a long peninsula surrounded by 2 large bays (Licknewarpsfjärden, Valdemarsviken), islands and cobs. It is covered in old forests and fields.
Migrating birds (mostly waterfowl) can be found seen from Ekudden. Especially in autumn (September/Oktober). Then Thousands of Gâscă călugăriță, Gâscă neagră, Rață fluierătoare and Eider have been seen. Hundreds of Rață mică, Rață sulițar, Rață neagră and Rață catifelată have been migrating during the right weather.
On the Cobs around Kvädö large colonies of Cormoran mare, Chiră polară, Chiră de baltă, Pescăruș sur and Pescăruș râzător. There is also one of the few colonies of Pescăriță mare in Sweden at Röskären. If the weather is harsh, arctic waders sometimes stop on the cobs. The cobs are also one of the best wintering areas for Fugaci de mare.
The open sea next to Ekudden is often open and holds large amounts of wintering Ferestraș mare, Rață de ghețuri and Rață sunătoare. Smaller amounts of wintering Rață neagră , Ferestraș moțat, Călifar alb and Corcodel mare can be found. During late autumn and winter large amounts (at most 3500) of Rață sunătoare and Rață moțată winter at Licknewarpsfjärden. Ferestraș mic, is found up until April but is most common in early December. Smaller amounts of dabbling ducks (Rață pestriță, Rață fluierătoare and Rață mică) and Rață cu cap castaniu also winter in the bays. The large area of forests bring wintering Acvilă de munte, Uliu porumbar and Uliu păsărar. The fields often hold wintering Șorecar comun, and cobs Codalb.
During spring resting loons have been seen. Passerine birds sometimes rest at Ekudden. Rare birds like Gușă vânătă (northern subsp), Codroș de munte, and Mugurar de taiga have been seen. Grebes have been seen resting during the spring (Corcodel cu gât roșu, Corcodel mare (most common), and Corcodel de iarnă) are often found.
