Protected area of 291 hectares that covers most of the Faludden peninsula on southeastern Gotland.
Faludden is a large bird protection area with open, tree- and shrub-free areas. The vast open beach meadows on Faludden can hold large numbers of waders. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also in autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Gâscă călugăriță and other geese roil on the headland, and the bird protection area has been created primarily to prevent the grazing geese from being disturbed and to reduce damage to surrounding arable land. Birders often find rarities on Faluden as this peninsula sticks out to the east. Note: Entry is prohibited from 15 March to 30 June and from 1 October to 15 November.
Easy accessible, but note: Entry is prohibited from 15 March to 30 June and from 1 October to 15 November. At the tip of the peninsula there are some cottages that give protection to the sometimes heavy winds. From this point you can see migrating birds over the sea. During migrations periods in spring and autumn small and sometimes rare birds can be found in the trees and bushes.
