Plans de Sió is a large steppe-type area, dominated by single-crop cereal farming, located in the Segarra region. It is a dry landscape with some shrubs or scrub. Steppe bird species, such as Erete sur, Spârcaci and Pasărea ogorului breed in the area, but can be hard to find. The more common birds include Potârniche cu picioare roșii, Vultur sur, Șerpar, Acvilă mică, Gaie roșie, Pupăză, Sfrâncioc mare iberic, Ciocârlie de Bărăgan, Vânturel roșu and Presură sură. Sometimes Acvilă de câmp iberică is observed.
