Description

The Aiguamolls de l'Empordà constitute an area very rich in fauna, especially in birds which have very interesting habitats of refuge and rest for those who are migratory. They are mainly birds linked to aquatic and marine environments (ardeidae, passeriformes, anatidae, laridae, shorebirds, etc.). In the hibernating, resident and nesting avifauna, there are also interesting species such as Rândunică roșcată, Nagâț, Găinușă albastră, Rață cârâitoare and many others.

Comments & Tips

Very interesting place, but avoid visiting in July-August because many noisy family tourists, few birds and generally overwhelming sun.

So many cool species, like Dumbrăveancă, Flamingo roz, Piciorong, Stârc de noapte, Țigănuș, Fluierar de lac, Fluierar negru and Sitar de mal.

Unfortunately, the severe drought currently affecting the North-East of Catalonia means that there are far fewer birds than in other years.

Despite the drought, it was a surprising interesting place to hear and see so many birds, some good work taking place. Expansion plans?

Really enjoyed this place with nice huts and different places to observe many species. Especially nice to see the Flamingo roz s and even saw Astrild cu cioc roșu s, a real treat. There's a nice small outdoor cafeteria at the main entrance and parking lot.
