Description

The name of Parc de la Torre d'en Dolça refers to the 16th century quadrangular tower. The ruins have raised the ground level inside, but you can still see the beginning of an arch that cut across the interior space to support the ceiling on the ground floor. Located on the edge of the Dolça quarry, from which he extracted the Mitra, the stone for the construction of the Cathedral of Tarragona. Pirates and corsairs often arrived by sea on the coast near Tarragona. The whole coast had to be fortified and, especially in this sector, the sea falcons were repeated. Otherwise, the band of Cambrils and Vila-seca suffered hard in time the War of the Reapers. A series of towers, watchtower or defense, was the consequence of the misdeeds. With the construction of Port Aventura, the City Council received this transfer of land which it took advantage of to build a park where apart from this old building, where it is easy to see Stăncuță , we have a mound of abandoned tree crops, new plantations as well as small wetlands that offer space to raise some species but above all a rest for migrants. This place is one of the best in the Camp de Tarragona to see a good number of birds with a short walk.
