Largest urban park in Barcelona and very popular among the residents of the city. But also home to a surprising number of birds.
The Parc de la Ciutadella is home to a monumental waterfall, pond and romantic English-style garden, surrounded by two tree-lined boulevards. There are also several museums and the Barcelona Zoo on site. The park is good for some easy birding in the city. Among the birds you can encounter are Cănăraș, Pițigoi de brădet, Pițigoi moțat, Papagal călugăr, Papagal Micul Alexandru, Egretă mică, Stârc de cireadă, Codobatură de munte, Silvie mediteraneană, Silvie cu cap negru, Pescăruș râzător, Pescăruș cu picioare galbene, Pescăruș cu cap negru, Drepnea mare, Pițigoi codat and Codroș de munte. You can even get some surprises from time to time, such as seeing a Ibis sacru, Sfrâncioc cu cap roșu or Pupăză.
The Barcelona Metro and Trambesòs station Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica, on L4, is named after the park and the nearby area Vila Olímpica. The entrance to the park, however, is closer to the metro and Rodalies Barcelona (commuter train network) station Arc de Triomf. The city's central bus station Estació del Nord is also close.
