Description

The marshes and freshwater lagoons of Marismas de Jaizubia are surrounded by reed beds, meadows, rushes, cultivated fields, hedges and, in some sections of the path, forest. Such a variety of habitats attracts a multitude of bird species: up to 250 have been counted. The path is flat and little traveled. Among the birds you can encounter are: Pescăraș albastru, Cârstel de baltă, Stârc cenușiu, Culic mic, Culic mare, Pietruș, Lăcar de stuf, Stârc de cireadă, Egretă mică, Cormoran mare, Fluierar cu picioare verzi, Fluierar cu picioare roșii, Scatiu, Sticlete, Florinte, Cănăraș, Silvie cu cap negru, Gușă vânătă, Pițigoi codat, Corcodel mare, Stufărică, Pițigoi sur, Pițigoi moțat, Cânepar, Becațină comună, Cojoaică cu degete scurte, Sfrâncioc roșiatic, Rață lingurar and Rață mică.

Espagnol: Zona de marismas y de agua dulce con variedad de hábitats que atraen a multitud de especies. Espacio natural protegido incluido en la Red Natura 2000. Las marismas y las lagunas de agua dulce están rodeadas de carrizales, praderas, juncales, campos de cultivo, setos y, en algunos tramos del camino, bosque. Tal variedad de hábitats atrae multitud de especies de aves: se han llegado a contar hasta 250. El camino es llano y poco transitado.

Access

Marismas de Jaizubia is located north of the city of Irun, close to the Spanish/French border. It is easy to park at one end of the route, in the Amute car park, or at the other, next to the Jaizubia society. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking. From either of the two car parks you can continue walking along the path that runs along the estuary. At some point the path splits into two, allowing you to visit the San Joaquín lagoon. It is advisable to follow the path closest to the water's edge. The length of the path is about 2,5 km one way.

Espagnol: Es fácil aparcar en un extremo del recorrido, en el parking de Amute, o bien en el otro, junto a la sociedad Jaizubia. A partir de cualquiera de los dos aparcamientos se puede seguir andando el camino que bordea la ría. En algún momento el camino se desdobla en dos, permitiendo la visita de la laguna de San Joaquín. Lo recomendable es seguir el camino más cercano a la orilla del agua.
