Description

Marismas de El Rompido is situated west of Huelva, around the minor resort and fishing village of El Rompido. The Piedras river has formed an estuary surrounded by marshlands. Where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean a long sandy spit has formed, called the Barra or Flecha del Rompido. The river Piedras marshlands and El Rompido spit was designated a protected area in 1989. A great site for birding with easy access lanes and many species of waterfowl. Some of the birds you can expect are Chiră mică, Chiră de baltă, Pupăză, Barză albă, Pescăraș albastru, Coțofană cu aripi albastre, Stufărică pătată, Rândunică roșcată and Pescăruș cu picioare galbene. Access

You can go by bike or on foot. Free parking to park the car at the beginning of the route. Click on the P in the map to get directions. From the parking you can make a circular walk of about 5 km (see the map).
