The Benifassà Tinença Natural Park was declared in May 2006, covering some 5,000 hectares. It is located in the historical region of the same name, which comprised the towns of La Pobla de Benifassà, Coratxà, El Boixar, Fredes, El Ballestar, Bel, and Castell de Cabres. The abrupt relief of this massif, the result of the confluence of mountain systems with different orientation, together with the work of generations of settlers with their traditional uses, results in a territory of granddious landscapes and high biodiversity.
