Description
The Valley of Laciana is located near the headwaters of the River Sil in the Cantabrian Cordillera, to the north of the Province of Leon, bordering with Asturias. The area has a wide range of altitudes, with the consequent wealth of landscape and valuable habitats: limestone Oak groves, rocky outcrops, mountain grasslands, scrubland, numerous rivers and riparian forests in a good state of conservation. Many animals still live here like Iberian wolf and it is the place in Europe that houses the most brown bears. But also the birdlife is rich. A very interesting area is the area around the Centro Urogallo where you can see all kinds of forest birds. First you can visit the grouse center and after that you can walk the indicated trails. If you are very lucky you have a chance to see Cocoș de munte. But many other interesting forest birds live in the area and also Hoitar.
