Description
North of Valencia, the small river Barranc del Carraixet flows into the Mediterranean Sea. At this spot the stream is densely overgrown with plants and reeds and often many interesting birds can be found here. It is easy to walk or cycle along the banks and observe the birds well from there. Birds you can encounter here are gulls, terns, herons and ducks. For example Rață cu ciuf, Stârc pitic, Stârc roșu, Stârc galben, Țigănuș, Pescăruș cu cap negru, Pescăruș mediteraneanand Chiră de mare. But also birds like Pupăză, Stufărică pătată, Papagal călugăr, Papagal Micul Alexandru and Silvie mediteraneană. Best time to visit with most birds is winter and spring. But summer still sees enough birds to enjoy the place and for example Găinușă albastră can be spotted very well all year round at the Barranc del Carraixet.
