Description

Skukuza Golf Club in in Kruger National Park is a reliable location at which to quickly add some common species to your list. Birding is done from the restaurant deck that overlooks a small dam and the golf course. The indigenous vegetation in and around the parking area yields savanna woodland species and during winter the array of flowering aloes atttracts the full suite of local sunbirds and other nectar loving species. This site is also known to on occasion produce some local and regional rarities. Commonly seen species include African Fish-eagle, African Jacana, Black Crake, Thick-billed Weaver, African Black-headed Oriole, Purple-crested Turaco, Retz's Helmetshrike, Green-winged Pytilia and many more.

Access

The Skukuza Golf club is inside the Kruger National Park which is access controlled and has an entrance fee. Access to the Skukuza Golf club is via the standard tourist roads of the park. These roads are easily accessable by a normal sedan. You are only allowed to get out of your vehicle at designated spots, so you cannot reach this spot by foot and no public transport services go here.

Once at the golf club, the parking area is fenced area and the dam can be viewed from the golf club restaurant deck.
