Description
Jardim Botanico is a small botanical garden, with a little grove of trees behind it. The site is a great place for a short mornings birding. It is also the place where you start the Lagoa Amelia Trail, where you can see a few more endemics not normally found in the garden. This trail has a few more endemics, but is quite slippery, muddy, rocky and steep. The hike to get to the PN Obô de São Tomé forest is quite long - so take water. It also gets very steep once in the park.

The birding here unfortunately is not as good as it was in the past - the trail and surrounding areas are hunted and the areas have been converted to slash and burn farming. It still remains a great spot if all you have is a morning.
