The mouth of the Vale Vaqueiro stream is one of the richest areas in avifauna in the central Portugal area. 180 bird species have been recorded here. Among the birds you can encounter are Prepeliță, Potârniche cu picioare roșii, Grangur, Prigorie, Cucuvea, Sfrâncioc mare iberic, Pitulice iberică, Barză neagră, Barză albă, Drepnea cu târtiță albă, Uligan pescar, Turturică and Astrild cu cioc roșu.
