Small island off the coast of Graciosa. To view from the port of Praia or to visit. One of the few places where Monteiro's Storm Petrel breeds.
Ilhéu da Praia is an uninhabited islet located approximately 1.5 kilometres away from the town of Praia off the eastern coast of the island of Graciosa. Along with Baixo Islet to its south, Ilhéu da Praia is one of two main breeding places of Monteiro's Storm Petrel, an endemic marine bird of the Azores. Other birds that breed on Ilheu da Praia are Chiră cenușie, Ielcovan pitic, Cory's Shearwater, Furtunar de Madeira (Grants), Chiră roz and Chiră de baltă.
The island can be viewed from the port of Praia or with tours from local tour companies (for example Calypso Azores, see the link below). There is a fixed telescope in a viewing hut at the entrance to the ferry port.
