The Sophiapolder is a small nature reserve with creeks, islands and wetlands and very good birding.
The Sophiapolder is a nature reserve since 1997. It has a permanent island and several islands that only appear when the water level is falling. The open water, the banks and the grassland attract many birds. Breeding birds include Pescăruș cu cap negru, Ciocîntors, Prundăraș gulerat mic, Gâscă călugăriță, Lăcar mic, Lăstun de mal, Sitar de mal and Corcodel cu gât negru. Lopătar are often seen, just like Șoim călător who likes to catch a bird here.

Het open water, de oevers en het grasland trekken veel vogels aan. Lopătar wordt vaak gezien, net als Șoim călător die hier graag jaagt.
