Description
The Park van Luna was built around the turn of the century. There is a large lake where large groups of Rață fluierătoare, Rață moțată, Rață cu cap castaniu and various species of seagulls can be seen in the winter. In and around the water bodies south of the lake breed Pescăruș râzător, Chiră de baltă, Buhai de baltă, Lăcar mic, Lăcar de stuf, Corcodel mare and Lișiță. Breeding birds in the bushes are, among others Silvie cu cap negru, Silvie de zăvoi, Pitulice fluierătoare, Pitulice mică, Ciuf de pădure and Florinte. The area is freely accessible on foot and by bicycle.

Nederlands: Het Park van Luna is een prachtig parkachtig gebied met een grote plas, waterpartijen en bos. Het gebied is aangelegd rond de eeuwwisseling. Er is een grote plas waar in de winter grote groepen Rață fluierătoare, Rață moțată, Rață cu cap castaniu en diverse meeuwensoorten verblijven. In en rond de waterpartijen ten zuiden van de plas broeden Pescăruș râzător, Chiră de baltă, Buhai de baltă, Lăcar mic, Lăcar de stuf, Corcodel mare en Lișiță. In de bossages broeden onder meer Silvie cu cap negru, Silvie de zăvoi, Pitulice fluierătoare, Pitulice mică, Ciuf de pădure en Florinte. Het gebied is vrij toegankelijk te voet en per fiets.

Access
The Park van Luna is located south of the town of Heerhugowaard. Parking is available along Oost Tangent 4 or Strand van Luna 3 in Heerhugowaard. Click on a P on the map for directions to a parking lot. The area can be reached by bus from Alkmaar with bus 160 (get off at the Park van Luna stop) and 162 (get off at the Huygendijkbos stop). The entire area can be visited in 1 to 2 hours.

Nederlands: Het Park van Luna ligt ten zuiden van Heerhugowaard. Parkeren kan langs de Oost Tangent 4 of Strand van Luna 3 te Heerhugowaard. Per bus is het gebied te bereiken vanuit Alkmaar met bus 160 (uitstappen bij halte Park van Luna) en 162 (uitstappen bij halte Huygendijkbos). In 1 á 2 uur is het gehele gebied te bezoeken.
