Description
In the Mesingebos forest birds can be seen and heard from the many trails. It is a woodpecker friendly habitat with many old and dead trees. The impressive rumble and loud cries of Ciocănitoare neagră can be heard in spring. In the old burrows the Porumbel de scorbură nests. Furthermore, the Ciocănitoare pestriță mare can be clearly seen and heard here. Many tits can be seen here, such as the Pițigoi de brădet and the Pițigoi codat. The associated Sterrebos borders the water of the Lieversche Diep where there is a weir with fish ladder and the Pescăraș albastru can be seen. This place has even been visited by the Pescărel negru, a very rare bird in The Netherlands.

Nederlands: Het Mensingebos is een bos met erg veel paden. Die zijn vroeger gebruikt voor de jacht en zijn nu zeer geschikt om bosvogels te bekijken. Vanaf de vele paden zijn bosvogels prachtig te zien en te horen. Het is een spechtenvriendelijke leefomgeving met veel oude en dode bomen. Zo komt in dit overzichtelijke bos met heide de Ciocănitoare neagră voor waarvan de indrukwekkende roffel en harde kreten in het voorjaar prachtig te horen zijn. In de oude holen broedt de Porumbel de scorbură. Verder is de Ciocănitoare pestriță mare hier goed te zien en te horen. Verder zijn hier tal van mezen te zien, zoals de Pițigoi de brădet en de Pițigoi codat. Het bijbehorende Sterrebos grenst aan het water van het Lieversche Diep waar zich een stuw met vistrap bevindt en de Pescăraș albastru is te zien. Deze plek is zelfs al eens bezocht door de Pescărel negru.

Access
The area is best walked. A wheelchair walk has been marked out in the Sterrebos, but it can be muddy outside the summer. The circular walk shown on the map is about 6,5 km long. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking.

Nederlands: Het gebied is het best te bewandelen. In het Sterrebos is een rolstoelwandeling gemarkeerd maar deze kan buiten de zomer modderig zijn. De rondwandeling op de kaart is ongeveer 6,5 km lang. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats.
