The Eiland van Maurik is a recreational area and natural area of 220 hectares near Maurik along the river Nederrijn.
The Eiland van Maurik is a popular and busy water recreation area, but rare birds are sometimes seen in winter. In winter it is a good place to see water birds like Rață fluierătoare, Rață sunătoare and Ferestraș mare. Also rare birds such as Cufundar mic, Cufundar mare and Rață fluierătoare americană have been seen here. Pescăruș cu picioare galbene has even nested here. The Codalb has been seen here, but more regular are birds like Pescăraș albastru, Gâscă de vară, Gârliță mare, Rață moțată and Corcodel mic.

Nederlands: Het Eiland van Maurik is een recreatiegebied van 220 hectare vlakbij Maurik langs de Nederrijn. Het is een populair en druk waterrecreatiegebied, maar toch worden er regelmatig leuke of zeldzame vogels gezien. Vooral in de winter. In de winter is het een goede plek om vogels als brilduiker, smient en grote zaagbek te zien. Ook zijn hier zeldzame vogels gezien als roodkeelduiker, ijsduiker en Amerikaanse smient. Geelpootmeeuw heeft zelfs op het eiland gebroed. Ook de zeearend wordt een enkele keer gezien, maar je hebt grotere kans grauwe gans, kolgans, brandgans, ijsvogel, dodaars of kuifeend tegen te komen.
The Eiland van Maurik is open from 06:00 to 22:00 and admission is free. If you come by car, you pay a parking fee.
