A nature reserve that is worth a visit with its large bodies of water (old gravel pits and backwaters of the Meuse) and its herds of Konik and Galloway.
Eijsderbeemden near the village of Oost-Maarland is a nature development area of 75 hectare. You can follow the spontaneous development of the landscape under the influence of the Meuse and of course the grazing of Konik horses and Galloway cattle. The Maas forms the border between Belgium and the Netherlands here. In winter, birds use the water bodies as resting places in great numbers. Groups are sometimes home to a rarity. Good area for ducks like Ferestraș mic, Rață sunătoare, Rață cu cap castaniu and Rață lingurar.

Easy access parking is available at the exit of the reserve (end of Kasteellaan). Click on the P in the map to get directions. The walking route that is shown on the map is about 5 km.

In summer it can get crowded here with tourists which can disturb quiet observation (barbecue, fishermen, ...). In winter, the site is much less popular because it can get very cold.
