A semi open to open landscape, consisting of pastures, small forests and damp meadows: a perfect location for waders, raptors and songbirds.
"De Regulieren" is a semi open to open landscape, consisting of pastures, small forests and damp meadows. The central part of the area consists of open pastures with cattle. The surroundig fences are often used by Fâsă de luncă and Mărăcinar negru. In spring, when the vegetation of the pastures is still low, some areas contain damp meadows, which are used by mainly waders and ducks. Prundăraș gulerat mic, Bătăuș and Sitar de mal can often be found on these parts. Pairs of Rață mică can also be found in the small ditches between these pastures. If you're lucky, you can hear Prepeliță from within these pastures. Sometimes large herds of roe deer can be present. In the surrounding forests, species like Pitulice fluierătoare and Silvie de zăvoi breed and in the higher bushes species like Silvie mică and Silvie de câmp can be found. Also, Cuc and Grangur breed in small numbers in the area. The area contains small patches of reedbeds, which are used by Lăcar de stuf.
Many birds of prey make use of the area as hunting and breeding habitat. Many Șorecar comun and Vânturel roșu can be found in the central part of the area. Șoimul rândunelelor hunts on dragonflies above the wet pastures and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter a Viespar. Also, Erete de stuf uses the area to hunt for prey.
In winter, the central part of the area is low in numbers of birds. Sometimes, large flocks of Cocoșar and Sturzul viilor can be found here. The forests are used by mixed flocks of tits and finches. Small numbers of Aușel cu cap galben can also be found within these flocks. The surrounding pastures of the area are often used by large groups of Egretă mare.
There are two parkingspots (see P on the map) to access the area in which you'll be able to make a circular walk of about 4 km. Almost all of the trails are unpaved roads and on most of them you'll just walk on grass. After a rainy period, these roads can be very wet and dirty. There are several vantage points around to take a look over the central part of the area.
