A mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands in the excavated peat. That is De Deelen, in the heart of the province of Friesland. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese, including Rață fluierătoare, Gârliță mare, Rață lingurar and Gâscă călugăriță come to De Deelen. Rare species such as Chirighiță neagră, Stârc roșu and Erete de stuf also live in the area. If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the Grelușel pătat singing in the spring. Other birds you can see here are Gâscă de vară, Lopătar, Gușă vânătă, Culic mare, Rață mare, Rață moțată, Rață cu cap castaniu, Corcodel mare, Șorecar comun, Gâscă canadiană, Presură de stuf and Chiră de baltă.
Small parking lot available. It is a walking area with some marked paths, Unfortunately also sometimes used by dog walkers. Has a small bird observatory. From the parking to the birdhide is about 1 km.
