Description
De Blauwe Poort Laarbeek was built a few years ago to respond to the changing climate. The area of fifteen hectares can both store and retain water. This means that more water is available in dry summers. The water storage has a natural character and ditch patterns and a lot of attention has been paid to nature development. It is a wetland area with an open character and this attracts birds like Nagâț, Scoicar, Culic mare, Fluierar cu picioare roșii, Becațină comună, Rață cârâitoare and sometimes Sitar de mal. During migration you have a chance on Fluierar de mlaștină, Fluierar de zăvoi and Fluierar cu picioare verzi. In the area you can also see many Codobatură galbenă and Codobatură albă. You can also see birds like Gușă vânătă, Mărăcinar negru, Presură de stuf and various species of ducks. A hiking and cycling path runs through the area and there is a watchtower.

Nederlands: De Blauwe Poort Laarbeek is is een klein waterrijk gebied met natte graslanden en sloten dat veel vogels aantrekt. Vanuit een uitkijktoren kun je het gebied overzien. Het is een paar jaar geleden is aangelegd om in te spelen op het veranderende klimaat. Het gebied van vijftien hectare kan zowel water bergen als vasthouden. Hierdoor is in droge zomers meer water beschikbaar. De waterberging heeft een natuurlijke karakter en slotenpatronen en er is veel aandacht besteed aan natuurontwikkeling. Het is een plas-drasgebied met het open karakter en dit trekt vogels aan als Nagâț, Scoicar, Culic mare, Fluierar cu picioare roșii, Becațină comună, Rață cârâitoare en heel soms een Sitar de mal. In de trektijd kans op steltlopers als Fluierar de mlaștină, Fluierar de zăvoi en Fluierar cu picioare verzi. In het gebied ook veel Codobatură galbenă en Codobatură albă. Ook te zien in het gebied zijn vogels als Gușă vânătă, Mărăcinar negru, Presură de stuf en diverse soorten eenden. Door het gebied loopt een wandel- en een fietspad en er is een uitkijktoren.

De Blauwe Poort is located near the village of Beek en Donk along the N279, opposite the Bemmer business park. There is a gate that leads to the staircase of the watchtower where you can see the whole area. Click on the P in the map for directions.
