Popular tourist spot in 4 sq miles of desert oasis, now maintained by artificial springs. 250-280 bird species have been seen.
Spring and autumn are best for this oasis. Passerines include Pietrar mediteranean, Sfrâncioc cu cap roșu, Bulbul cu urechi albe, Ciocârlan, Silvie mediteraneană, Silvie estică de grădini and Silvie cu ochelari. Wetland birds include 3 species of egret, Cresteț pestriț, Cresteț cenușiu, Cristel de câmp, Stârc de noapte, Stârc roșu and Stârc galben, Barză neagră and Barză albă. In the surrounding desert there may be Prepeliță, Pasărea ogorului, Vultur sur, Erete alb, Acvilă porumbacă, Mugurar de deșert, Desert Owl and Graurul lui Tristram. There is a raised walkway, hides and a cycle track.
By road the site is 70 miles east of Amman, where day tours, car hire and taxi hire are available. Advice is to carry plenty of water and avoid midday heat. The cycle route is 12 km and the raised walkway 3/4 of a km.
