Description
This part of the Valli di Comacchio represents one of the most important areas from an ornithological point of view. For birdwatching you can follow three distinct routes: On foot following the embankment that from Stazione Foce leads to the salt pans between Valle Spavola and Valle Uccelliera (this is the route you see on the map below). On foot or by bicycle, along the path on the right immediately after the iron bridge, until you reach Casone Donnabona. The other option is by motorboat, thanks to an excursion inside the valleys themselves with which you can visit the Casoni di Pegoraro and Serilla. It is also possible to go birding on the nature trail of the Prato Pozzo farmhouse and along the southern embankment of the valleys on foot, by bicycle or by electric bus.
The avifauna of the Comacchio valleys and salt pans is extremely varied but the spearhead is represented by the Flamingo roz which nests in spring and then stays throughout the year. In spring other birds that arrive to nest are Lopătar, Piciorong, Scoicar, Ciocîntors, Chiră de baltă, Chiră mică and various species of gulls including the Pescăruș cu cap negru. In winter, in addition to the numerous species of waders such as Sitar de mal, Culic mare, Bătăuș, Fluierar de munte, Fluierar negru, Fluierar cu picioare verzi, Fluierar de mlaștină and Fluierar cu picioare roșii, you can also observe some Nordic species such as the Rață sunătoare, Ferestraș moțat or the Ciuf de câmp.

Italiano: Le Valli di Comacchio si estendono per circa 11.000 ettari e sono delimitate a Est dalla S.S. 309 Romea, a Sud dal fiume Reno, a Ovest dall’argine Agosta. In questo sito, che rappresenta una delle aree più importanti del Parco dal punto di vista ornitologico, è possibile praticare il birdwatching seguendo tre distinti percorsi: a piedi seguendo l’argine che da Stazione Foce porta alle saline tra Valle Spavola e Valle Uccelliera; a piedi o in bicicletta, lungo il sentiero che si trova sulla destra subito dopo il ponte in ferro, fino a raggiungere il Casone Donnabona; in motonave, grazie ad un’escursione all’interno delle valli stesse con la quale si visitano i Casoni di Pegoraro e Serilla. È possibile inoltre praticare birdwatching nel sentiero natura dell’agriturismo Prato Pozzo e lungo l’argine Sud delle Valli a piedi, in bicicletta o con pulmino elettrico.
L’avifauna delle Valli e delle Saline di Comacchio è estremamente varia ma la punta di diamante è rappresentata dal Fenicottero rosa che nidifica in primavera e vi staziona poi durante tutto l’anno. In primavera arrivano per nidificare Spatola, Cavaliere d’Italia, Beccaccia di mare, Avocetta, Sterna comune, Sterna zampenere, Fratino, Fraticello e diverse specie di gabbiani tra cui il Gabbiano corallino. In inverno oltre alle numerose specie di Limicoli come Pittima reale, Pantana, Pettegola, Pivieressa, Piovanello pancianera, si possono osservare anche alcune specie nordiche come il Quattrocchi, lo Smergo minore o il Gufo di palude.
