Description

This seasonal wetland is situated along the road to Garmsar. As the whole area is desert, this body of water acts like a haven for many waders and waterbirds during their migration and wintering. In winter, you can spot large flocks of Gâscă de vară, Rață mare, Rață mică, and Călifar alb, along with different species of plovers, sandpipers, and herons. The Codalb is usually spotted there easily, and a good number of Piciorong and Ciocîntors stay in the wetland.

Access

The best way to reach Morreh Wetland is by private vehicle, as it is located about 50 kilometers northeast of Qom City. You can park along the safe shoulders of the Qom-Garmsar highway. It is recommended to spend at least half a day there, as bird activity varies greatly depending on the time of day and water levels. Additionally, you can explore the surrounding steppe areas to find desert-specialist passerines. Also, if you have time, you can combine your birdwatching in this place and Band Alikhan (also described on Birdingplaces) which is a few kilometers away.
