Description
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Inăriță, Sturzul viilor and Ochiuboului. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like Cinteză, Cinteză de iarnă and Mugurar have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Ieruncă alpină. The area is also used as hunting ground by Șoim de tundră.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Rață sunătoare islandeză, Rață cu cap negru, Notatiță, Ferestraș moțat and Rață de ghețuri.
