The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like Frunzăriță balcanică, Silvie estică de grădini and Silvie roșcată estică. The small houses and farms a worth a check for Cucuvea, and the scattered trees are perfect for Ciocârlie de pădure. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like Sfrâncioc cu cap roșu and Sfrâncioc cu mască. The rocky outcrops are great for Țiclean de stâncă and Presură cu cap sur.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like Dumbrăveancă, Prigorie and Grangur. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like Șorecar mare.
