Mt Hymettus is a great birding place, very close to the city center of Athens with several species to enjoy such as Silvie cu gât negru, Pietrar mediteranean, Potârniche de stâncă asiatică, Șorecar mare and Muscar mic . Different habitats (scattered forest, olive groves, makia vegetation, rocky slopes) provide excellent habitat for a variety of birds, basically passerines.

Walk around Kesariani Monastery to see Muscar mic in fall, also breeding Huhurez mic, Presură bărboasă, Silvie mediteraneană, Aușel sprâncenat, Pițigoi codat and Ciuș. Drive up the summit in spring and explore the surrounding paths for Silvie cu gât negru, Silvie roșcată estică, Pietrar mediteranean, Mierlă albastră, Țiclean de stâncă and Șorecar mare.
