Description
Wiesen am Hirtenborn is a nature reserve with damp grassland surrounded by mixed woodlands. Easy walking and access. Parking available. Five species of woodpeckers (including Ciocănitoare neagră, Ciocănitoare de stejar and Ciocănitoare pestriță mică), raptors like Uliu porumbar, and the usual woodland birds. In summer as many as 5 Sfrâncioc roșiatic territories and dozens of Ciocârlie. Silvie de câmp and Pițigoi moțat are also common. The area is protected because of the wildflowers. Mammals, including Wildcat, are frequently seen.

From Rheinboellen, take the road to Bacharach, then turn right at the turning for Manubach/Oberdiebach. The Nature Reserve is at the end of the woods on the right hand side after about 1 km. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking. The indicated circular walk on the map is about 6 km long and starts from this parking.
