The shallow lakes around Wasserschloss Neuhaus are partly used for fish breeding, but offer a reed and water habitat for many bird species. Especially the occurance of 5 heron species attracts a lot of birders: Stârc de noapte, Stârc roșu, Stârc pitic, Egretă mare and Stârc cenușiu.
