A biotope through which the river Schmutter flows. Around the river there are numerous small marshes, wet meadows and isolated reed belts.
In winter, Egretă mare and Stârc cenușiu can often be observed on the meadows. The best time for this is early in the morning. The nearby nesting Barză albă often forages at the river's edge. Both Gâscă de vară and Gâscă canadiană or Rață mare are frequent visitors to the biotope all year round.
Forest dwellers are also often found near the mill. Both Codobatură albă and Codobatură de munte can be observed in the area. Songbirds such as Cânepar or other Fringillidae are also regularly seen.
You can easily park at the Umweltzentum Diedorf in Kreppen. Click on the P in the map for directions. There are several level paths nearby that lead parallel to the river Schmutter. The paths are suitable for bicycles, but the paths are better for walking. The circular route indicated on the map is about 3 km.
