Description
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Lebădă de vară and Lișiță. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Lăstun de mal, and Scoicar breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Lăcar de stuf, Lăcar de mlaștină and Presură de stuf live in the reed beds, while Privighetoare roșcată and Boicuș live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Sfrâncioc roșiatic, Silvie de câmp and Silvie mică, while Vânturel roșu, Grangur and Vrabie de câmp breed in the trees. Potârniche, Mărăcinar mare, Ciocârlan and Pietrar sur live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Tundra Bean Goose, Gârliță mare, Rață cu cap castaniu, Rață moțată and Ferestraș mare.
