Nature reserve on the old floodplains of the river Ruhr that acts like a magnet for water birds, waders and songbirds.
In the still young nature reserve Kiebitzwiese, the river Ruhr is getting its floodplain back. Especially during the bird migration season, the area acts like a magnet for water birds, waders and songbirds, which like to take a break here. Until a few years ago it was intensively used farmland, then old raft ditches were opened and the former Ruhr floodplain area was watered again. During the breeding season, Nagâț are particularly noticeable: after a long absence they have returned to their old habitat. In 2014 Barză albă nested here for the first time. Rustic Heck cattle, which are on the Kiebitzwiese all year round, ensure that the area is not covered with bushes. You can see all of this from a lookout hill close to the road. Among the other birds you can see here are Gâscă de vară, Pescăraș albastru, Șoimul rândunelelor, Gâscă canadiană, Gâscă egipteană, Rață mare, Becațină comună, Corcodel mic and Rață moțată.
Easy accessible on the Werner-von Siemens-Straße in Fröndenberg. From the lookout point you have a great view over the area.
