Description
The Kemnader See is located on the southern outskirts of the city of Bochum and borders on Witten and Hattingen. The shore of the reservoir is developed with paved paths and a cycle path. The lake is traversed by the river Ruhr, in the estuary area of the river, gravel islands are formed, where mainly gulls (up to 6 species!) can be observed in winter. The lake is also a roosting place for Gâscă canadiană and Gâscă de vară in winter. In winter: regular Rață sunătoare, Ferestraș mic, Ferestraș mare, Rață cu cap castaniu, Rață moțată, Rață mică, Rață pestriță and Rață mare. Rață catifelată, Cufundar polar, Cufundar mic are occasional winter visitors, and Cufundar mare have also been observed. Pescăraș albastru can be seen regularly all year round, Lăstun de mal in summer. Chiră de baltă and Chirighiță neagră are migrants, as is Uligan pescar. The black swans, which have been breeding here regularly for many years, are famous.

Accessible by car via the A43 motorway, exit Witten-Herbede. Parking spaces at the "Freiteitbad Heveney". Click on the P in the map for directions. Bus stops "Freizeitbad Heveney" and in the south "Herbede Mitte" and "Wittener Straße".
