Description
The Beeder Bruch (or Biotop Beeden) is a nice birding destination near Homburg in the Saarland. The area is part of the river Blies floodplain and has alluvial forests, reeds, meadows and ponds. These different habitats attract many birds. More than 140 different breeding and resting bird species have been identified. The area has an observation tower and an observation platform that give good views over the area. Among the birds you can see are Barză albă, Rață cârâitoare, Rață sulițar, Ferestraș mic, Becațină mică, Becațină comună, Bătăuș, Fluierar de munte, Prundăraș gulerat mic, Uligan pescar, Șoimul rândunelelor, Turturică, Cuc and Grangur. In addition to the various bird species, you can also observe water buffalo and Heck cattle as well as a herd of Konik horses. The Beeder Bruch is part of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve.
