Protected lake with a breeding island for gulls and terns.
The Barghauser lake is a protected area of 18 hectares, including 14 hectares of water. The lake is over 20 m deep. In the lake there is an artificially constructed island for breeding birds. A colony of Pescăruș râzător has settled here, but Chiră de baltă and sometimes Ciocîntors or Pescăruș cu cap negru also find a place to breed. Around the lake a narrow strip of trees has developed, and there are grasslands in the area. So this also attracts some other birds.
You can park on the southwest corner of the lake (Click on the P on the map to go there). From there you can walk along the south and east side of the lake and have some good views on the breeding island. If you want to observe the breeding birds up close it's a good idea to bring a telescope.
