In the eastern part near the strait wintering swans (Lebădă mică, Lebădă de iarnă) and even loons (Cufundar polar, Cufundar mic) can be encountered.

In the reedbeds you can find almost all species of herons, that live in Georgia (Stârc cenușiu, Egretă mare, Stârc galben, Stârc pitic).
Open spaces, covered with grass on the shores of the reservoir attract larks, shrikes, pipits and birds of prey (including Șoim călător, Șoim de iarnă, Vânturel de seară, Vânturel mic, Erete alb, Acvilă de stepă, Uligan pescar).
In the coastal forests live woodpeckers (Ciocănitoare de grădini, Ciocănitoare pestriță mică, Capîntortură, Ciocănitoare neagră), tits, finches (Mugurar, Cinteză) and even Forfecuță.
