Description
The Carreau Franc ornithological reserve is a wetland of 23 hectare that is easy to access and has a bird hide to see the birds up close. The site has a breeding island for ground-breeding birds like Chiră de baltă. But many other birds breed here or make a migratory stop. Among the birds you can see are Cormoran mare, Rață cu ciuf, Ciocârlie, Prundăraș gulerat mic, Silvie cu cap negru, Gaie neagră, Egretă mică, Stârc de noapte and Nagâț.

Français: Réserve Ornithologique du Carreau-Franc est d'intérêt majeur pour l'avifaune. Beaucoup d'oiseaux y effectuent une halte migratoire. Certaines espèces patrimoniales nichent sur le site au printemps : bihoreau gris, aigrette garzette, sterne naine. Les plans d'eau et les milieux herbacés humides à très secs acueillent également une faune et une flore riche. Certaines espèces rares y sont présentes : Leucorrhine à large queue (libellule), azuré des coronilles (papillon), Eleocharis acicularis (flore).
