Description
Pointe de la Coubre becomes very interesting during spring and autumn migration, just before or after birds cross the Gironde. Migrating species include Uligan pescar, Erete de stuf, Pescăriță mare, Mierlă gulerată, Muscar negru.
Breeding species include Gușă vânătă, Ciocârlan, Fâsă de câmp, Stufărică pătată, Cânepar, Pitulice de munte. On the ocean side of the beach breeds Prundăraș de sărătură which nests are fenced and protected every year.
Wintering species include Rață neagră , Lup de mare atlantic and all sorts of waders and ducks (Fugaci mare, Prundăraș gulerat mare, Culic mare, Sitar de mal, Ploier argintiu).

Access
How to get there: By bike - bike trails from Rochefort (60km) and Royan (20km). Follow "Phare de la Coubre". By car - Follow "Phare de la Coubre" to get to the car park. Free car park but closed at night.
How to visit: on foot only, free access. From the car park, go south and follow the dunes. You can go to the very end of the sandpit that faces La Palmyre across the strait (5km one way, 10km round trip by foot).
