Pointe de Chassiron is located at the end of the island of Oléron, and probably the most interesting place for the observation of pelagic birds (= seawatch), like Corb de mare, Alcă nordică or even Ielcovan balearic.
The best time to observe seabirds, like any bird for that matter, is from dawn until noon. The only really interesting period for the seawatch is fall. You will then be able to observe a very large diversity of open sea birds, such as: Gâscă de vară, Gâscă neagră, Eider, Rață neagră , Ferestraș moțat, Corcodel de iarnă, Corcodel mare, Lup de mare atlantic, Alcă nordică, Alcă atlantică, Pescăruș cu coadă scobită, Pescăruș râzător, Pescăruș mic, Pescăruș cu cap negru, Pescăruș sur, Pescăruș argintiu, Pescăruș cu picioare galbene, Pescăruș negricios, Pescăruș negru, Chiră mică, Chiră de mare, Chiră de baltă, Cufundar mic, Cufundar mare, Furtunar comun, Ielcovan balearic, Corb de mare and finally Cormoran moțat.
During migration, it is also possible to observe a large number of passerines and Anatidae.
NB: a Graur unicolor has been nesting for several years under the tiles of the most advanced house with Graur.
