Description
Mont Caroux represents the eastern limit of the Espinouse mountains. There is a rich forestry area where you can have a chance to see Capîntortură, Frunzăriță melodioasă, Pitulice de munte and Țiclean. There are also areas of heath which are home to Sfrâncioc roșiatic, Gaie neagră and Vultur sur. And look out for Acvilă de munte. More than 10 pairs breed in the area. Although visible all year round, this large raptor preferably performs acrobatic courtship displays in January and February. Other interesting birds you can see in the area are Șerpar, Mierlă de piatră, Mierlă albastră, Ciuș, Silvie mediteraneană Aușel cu cap galben and Presură de munte. In winter you have a chance to see Fluturaș de stâncă, Brumăriță de stâncă and Cinghiță alpină in the area.
