Description
During migration and winter the water bodies can host lots of ducks if they have not been flushed by fishermen or hunters, among which several dozens of Rață cu cap castaniu and Rață moțată and several hundreds of Lișiță . A rarity such as the Rață catifelată or Rață cu cap negru is always possible in winter. Still in winter but above all during October-November and March the wet grassland is a very good spot for Becațină comună and Becațină mică.
In summer typical breeders include Chiră de baltă and Corcodel mare on the lake, Sfrâncioc roșiatic in the bushes or Fâsă de luncă in the grassland.
In late summer and early autumn when water level drops the south-western water body can be very good for waders particularly Fluierar de mlaștină or for a Barză neagră stopover. In spring when water level is higher, Chirighiță neagră , Chirighiță cu obraz alb or Pescăruș mic are regularly seen foraging over water.
