Description
The Porslahti communal gardens attract a variety of bird species in spring, summer and autumn. The regular Vrabie de casă , Pițigoi mare and Vrabie de câmp are common birds in the gardens but it's also easy to come across birds like Pitulice fluierătoare , Pitulice mică , Silvie de câmp , Silvie mică , Măcăleandru, Ochiuboului and Sticlete. Especially in late summer. Codroș de pădure , Mărăcinar mare and Gușă vânătă have also been seen in the gardens during late summer and early autumn. Due to the high amount of small birds in the area, it's also possible to spot Uliu păsărar and Uliu porumbar hunting in the area.
The small foresty area next to the gardens can also surprise birders positively. In autumn and winter time, the forest can attract berry eating birds like Mugurar , Cocoșar and Mierlă. Aușel cu cap galben likes to hunt for insects in the coniferous trees throughout the year and Ghionoaie sură, Cojoaică de pădure and Pițigoi codat have been seen in the area as well.
As an added bonus, the gardens themselves are also lovely to look at when flowers are in full bloom and vegetables start to grow. Please be mindful when visiting and photographing to not disturb the gardeners too much to make birders welcome in the future too. While the paths around the gardens are public space the gardens themselves are off limits and should not be entered.
