Helnæs is an island on southwestern Funen with beautiful and varied, both flat and hilly nature.
Helnæs is an island on the southwestern coast of Funen connected to the Funen mainland by a dam. On Helnæs you can find the enormous meadowland of Maden, west of the town of Helnæs. Almost 300 hectares of meadows and fields lie behind the beach ridges along the Little Belt. The flat land at Helnæs Made stands in stark contrast to Bobakkernes hilly green terrain. At Maden you can make a nice walk along a marked route of about three kilometers. Among the birds you can see in the area are Gâscă călugăriță, Călifar alb, Rață lingurar, Rață sulițar, Potârniche, Corcodel mic, Corcodel cu gât roșu, Ciocîntors, Ploier auriu, Nagâț, Culic mare, Becațină comună, Fâsă de luncă, Presură galbenă, Presură de stuf and Ciocârlie.
Small parking lot on the left just as you come across the dam. Another small one at the end of Overdrevet, and a third large one on the beach if you continue along the gravel road at the end of Overdrevet. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the P of your choice.
