Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Stârc pitic (the only location of this species in Prague), Grelușel de stuf, Cârstel de baltă, Lăcar mare, Lăcar de stuf, Găinușă de baltă or Presură de stuf. Also the Erete de stuf is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Corcodel mare, Lișiță, Rață mare and a few pairs of Rață cu cap castaniu and Rață moțată. In the linked rural areas breed Sfrâncioc roșiatic, Grelușel pătat, Privighetoare roșcată and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Lăstun de mal.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Gușă vânătă, Mărăcinar mare, Mărăcinar negru, Muscar negru, Rață cârâitoare and many other species of waterfowl, Becațină comună, Nagâț and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Graur murmuration. Also Rândunică and Codobatură galbenă come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!
