Description

Paardeweide is a wetland that is flooded about once a year. You will find open water, reeds, and a mix of grasslands. The fairly large lake has lots of ducks, geese, gulls, waders and now and then Buhai de baltă. You can make a nice walk (1 hour) around the lake. The place is quiet and lies next to the river Schelde in an open area where it is nice to walk and/or cycle. The area attracts herons, waders and other water birds. Breeding birds are Ciocîntors and Chiră de baltă. Furthermore you can often see Lopătar. From the dyke, the following rarities can be observed periodically: Buhai de baltă, Cresteț pestriț, Cresteț cenușiu, Vânturel de seară and Stârc roșu.
